I see horses everywhere. In rearing
clouds, the rump of a hill, the arching neck along a weathered
root. So I decided to create horses from the driftwood I regularly
collect on my beach walks.
I realize my visions as an assembler
of the found forms crafted by wind, tide and time. I do only the
most basic cutting and shaping when engineering the sculptures,
enabling the natural lines of the wood to become the brushstrokes
of an outline, the power of a body, the movement of legs and tails.
Each sculpture is unique. Each with
an individual personality inspired by the pieces of wood, stone
and beach glass handpicked from the shores of Nova Scotia.
